Tips for going to water parks with kids

Kids adore going to water parks. Every year they anticipate the arrival of summer season to spend a day or two having the most incredible time at these amusement parks, trying out a great variety of fun rides, namely water slides, wave pools and many more. If you’re spending your holidays with kids in cities like Valencia, Madrid, Barcelona or Granada, make sure you don’t miss out on the opportunity to go to a water park and make your children happy. Today at Sidorme we are going to give you a few tips on how to have the best time at a water park:

Perfect planning makes for a perfect day

There’s a lot at stake, so it’s time to get organised! If you want to spend a great day at the water park, it’s important to get the necessary information about the park of your choice: check out their website and find out what are their opening hours and rules on matters like whether you’re allowed to bring food inside with you, or whether they accept credit cards at their bars and restaurants. Your hotel will always be happy to assist you in these issues if you need help. Moreover, we recommend you to prepare your backpacks the previous night with everything you’re going to need: towels, hats, sunglasses, goggles, sunscreen…

Make the most of your day

Since you’re going to spend an entire day at one of the many fantastic water parks in Spain, make the most of it. We recommend you to be at the door of the facilities at the opening time, and to not leave until the end of the day. For a stress-free day, avoid making additional plans for later, so you don’t have to be in a rush to return to the hotel. It’s your coveted family time, make it count and don’t waste any minute.

Follow the necessary security measures

When we go on holidays with kids, it’s mandatory to be fully aware of the security measures. When you arrive at the park from your hotel, first thing you should do is find out what rules you need to keep in mind, and explain them to your children afterwards. Tell them to follow the indications of the lifeguards and to ask the water park’s staff for help if they get lost. You can also put an identity wristband on your kids’ hands just in case.

Sunscreen is your best friend

It’s not in vain healthcare experts are so insistent on this: it is absolutely vital to take care of your skin and to be careful with sun exposure. If these aren't your first holidays with kids, you probably already know how easy it is to get sunburnt at water parks. For that reason, don’t forget to let them know how important it is to wear sunscreen. Apply a good coat of sunscreen before leaving the hotel, and repeat the procedure every hour. For better effect, you can use a higher sun protection factor, 50 or more. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen on places like their ears, the back of the neck, or foot soles.

Keep an eye on your belongings

Water parks welcome tons of people in summer, so it’s easy to lose track of your belongings if you’re not careful enough. We recommend you to use lockers: most establishments have them, and you can leave all your valuable objects there. Even though we all really like to immortalise every moment with our smartphone, perhaps it would be a better idea to leave it in a safe place. Besides, if you leave all your valuables in the locker, you can relax and enjoy a carefree day with your loved ones. These are some of the practical tips we've been able to come up with for going to water parks during your holidays with kids. Do you have any more ideas? Share them with us!
