Sport tourism in Spain: the perfect opportunity to travel and enjoy yourself

The year is quickly approaching its end and there aren’t many sporting events left to enjoy in Spain, which is all the more reason to make the most of the last trimester of 2014. An interesting event taking place in Valencia, Spain, is World Motorcycle Championship, between the days of November 7 and 9. One of the most difficult challenges in sailing starts soon as well, namely Volvo Ocean Race, a tour around the world with its starting point set in Alicante. However, whilst some events are coming to an end, others are only just beginning. The Champions League, for example, has already programmed all football matches for the rest of the year. Such opportunities are the perfect motive to travel and enjoy sport tourism in Spain in a unique way.

Sailing

For enthusiasts of sailing, Volvo Ocean Race, starting on October 11th in Alicante, is an event which offers you the possibility to get to know different competing teams coming from all over the globe. These teams are facing a great challenge, thus making their exploits all the more epic. The regatta has almost 40,000 nautical miles, commencing on October 4th with In-Port Race, the first trial on the coast. A week later, however, the best sailors in the world will set their course from Alicante to Cape Town, the first stop of the competition.

The twenty-second edition of Volvo Ocean Race will end in Gothenburg (Sweden) on June 27th 2015. But before reaching the end of their journey, these sportsmen will come by countries such as France, The Netherlands, Brazil, United Arab Emirates, China, South African Republic, United States of America, Portugal, and New Zealand.

Motorcycling Race

The Grand Prix of World Motorcycle Championship takes place between the days of November 7 and 9, at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia. Renowned pilots of Moto 3, Moto 2 and Moto GP categories will race to win the first place on the podium. With our eyes set on Spanish names like Dani Pedrosa, Héctor Barberá, Álvaro Bautista, Jorge Lorenzo, Marc Márquez, Aleix Espargaró and Pol Espargaró in the Moto GP category, we will be rooting for them to reach the highest places in the competition.

Football

Football is considered to be the most popular sport in the world, moving an incredible amount of people every year. For that reason, we can’t leave out the Champions League and its 2014-2015 season. The group stage has already begun, with some of the greatest encounters being played in Madrid and Barcelona. Lovers of football will most certainly enjoy this exciting tournament, which will continue well into 2015.

As a case in point, Atlético de Madrid and Juventus are playing at the Vicente Calderón Stadium in Madrid on October 1st. On December 9th the encounter between Real Madrid and Ludogorets will take place at the same venue in Madrid, and on the following day, December 10th, the excitement will travel to Barcelona, where you will be able to enjoy FC Barcelona against Paris. All of these matches are set to start at 8:45 pm.

Formula 1

If you’re an enthusiast of the F1, you will have to wait until May 2015 to enjoy the Catalonian circuit, located near Barcelona. This circuit will be welcoming once again one of the races of this highly followed competition, ever since Fernando Alonso made a name for himself bringing the Spanish flag back to the race track.
