From Carlos III to Alfonso XIII, the Royal Palace of Madrid proposes a journey through the Spanish History. Although it´s not inhabited by the present monarchs, the enclosure is the official residence of the kings.
The building is inspired in the sketches made by Bernini for the construction of the Louvre in Paris. It is built around a square yard and has a gallery and a parade ground where the main facade of the palace is located. The Royal Palace hosts every Wednesday (except July, August and September and those days in which some official acts are celebrated or when the weather conditions don´t allow it) the Change of the Royal Guard, a great spectacle, that finds its perfect complement on the following Wednesdays and Saturdays of the year at 11:00 am.
